Joanie Halter is a freelance copy editor for Elsevier Science and other publishers, as well as a writer of educational books about animals. Her pen name honors an uncle, Father Robert Halter, O.S.B., with whom she used to write stories for fun. She has a B.A. in journalism from Creighton University.
